Donna Shepard Physical Education
Hello fellow Mustangs and parents!!!
We are very excited about the upcoming school year. The purpose of our program is to introduce and educate the students on the importance of physical fitness. Our goal is to promote physical fitness and sport as fun lifetime activities. The students will be attending PE 5 days a week during the school year.
Expectations:
-Dress out when necessary in black shorts and grey shirt according to school dress code. The days of dress out will be determined by the coach. The current schedule is one time a week, on the students 90 minute P.E. day. No v-neck or tank tops allowed. T-shirt only.
-Sweats or warm-ups are allowed during cold weather.
-TENNIS SHOES ARE REQUIRED. Flip-flops, sandals, boots, mules, or roller shoes are not allowed.
Grading:
-A Students grade in P.E. is determined by participation and dress out.
-Participation grade reflects being on time, behavior, following rules, and being engaged in the activity for the day . Skill level will not be a factor for grading purposes. 100 points per week.
-
Lockers:
-Students will be issued a locker for use in PE. Due to space and student numbers all students will have a locker partner. All clothes need to be taken home on a weekly basis to be washed. Once lockers are given out, no student will change lockers or locker partners.
Locker Room Rules:
1)Students need to go to the restroom when they dress out. They will have 4 minutes to dress out and be in roll call.
Students who are not dressing out will not be allowed in the dressing room.
2) Students are not allowed to dress in the restroom stall.
3) Keep all valuables locked during P.E. We are not responsible for valuables that are lost if they are not locked up.
4) Students may not wear their P.E. clothes back to class. Students have to change out daily. P.E. clothes should not be worn to school the day of P.E. This does not constitute dressing out.
5) No glass bottles are allowed in the locker rooms.
6) Girls shirts may not be tied up with a hairtie. Tucked in or worn outside of shorts only.
7) Dress code length shorts must be worn. No tank tops. T-shirts only.
8) Students gym locker number should be written in planner. Planner should be brought to P.E. everyday in case they forget the combination.
9) The shower in the locker room is not for P.E. use.
10) Students are encouraged to bring deodorant. Body sprays are acceptable if not used in abundance.
Injury/Sick Policy:
-If your child is sick or injured and is not able to participate in PE they will need to bring a note from a parent explaining the situation. Students needing to sit out for more than 3 days will need a doctors note.
